Backstory: Wiki link

Personality:
Apollo is a loud, hot-headed attorney with a sarcastic streak, yet by far the most down-to-earth person in the entire Wright Anything Agency. In a world where each courtroom battle is full of colorful characters and wild plot twists, Apollo is typically more off-put or unnerved by the strange behavior than others around him are, making him the butt of the joke even among his coworkers. He's often dismissed thanks to his youthful looks or inexperience, but despite this Apollo has proven to be a determined opponent in court, using his sharp mind (and the occasional bluff) to find the truth behind multiple murders (and other crimes, but let's face it, in Ace Attorney it's usually murder). In fact, the truth matters more to Apollo than potentially-corrupt systems of law, sometimes making it difficult for him to fully trust in clients that are particularly shady or who lie to him often.

It's all too easy to push Apollo's buttons and get a response out of him, which has tripped him up during a case more than once. Not only is he easy to anger or startle, he's even outright cried in relief before. Apollo does tend to bounce back quickly, and his usual pessimism doesn't mean that he's immune to some silliness himself. After all, he seems convinced that 'Chords of Steel' vocal training is essential for shouting louder in court, and he makes plenty of jokes and puns of his own. In particular, Apollo has a habit of shouting 'I'm fine!' when he's nervous or about to approach a big task. This is a technique he uses to psyche himself up and convince himself that things really will be fine, and he's used it so often it's become a catch phrase.

That Apollo has become such a determined person despite his natural pessimism is undoubtedly a byproduct of having a turbulent life. After his father's death while he was still an infant, Apollo was raised by a Khura'in revolutionary leader named Dhurke who then sent him to America when he was 9 years old. Despite promises that Dhurke would return for him someday, Apollo grew to become an adult without seeing him again, though he did choose to follow in his footsteps in becoming a defense attorney. Of course, Apollo just ended up with a corrupt mentor who murdered a man just as he was making his debut as an attorney. More recently, his best friend Clay was murdered, followed by Dhurke's death about six months later. Apollo himself faced near-death experiences alongside both events.

It's important to note that his Perception ability, which allows him to sense the lies of others, is sometimes more of a curse than a blessing. When his colleague Athena kept lying about events related to Clay's death, Apollo purposefully wore a bandage over one eye to shut off his Perception, though he was still so suspicious of her that he temporarily left the Wright Anything Agency. In the end, Phoenix helped him to determine the truth of the matter and absolve Athena of any wrongdoing. The event highlight just how important the full truth is to him, and how it can easily damage his close relationships if he forgets how important it is to trust his friends (and/or makeshift family).

Despite all this legendary bad luck, Apollo hasn't been alone. He's been able to put himself back on his feet through the recent rough patches thanks to the support of his friends in the Wright Anything Agency. Even after staying behind in Khura'in to open his own law office, they're some of the few people left in his life that Apollo knows he can count on.

Powers/Abilities:
Apollo's single power is the 'Perceive' ability, which is an inherited talent referred to as a form of 'kinetic sight'. His eyesight is sensitive enough that he can subconsciously see the nervous tics that people show in their body language when they lie - and that's where his bracelet comes in. Made of a special metal that's sensitive to body heat, it's always a perfect fit, and thus it tightens on his wrist in response to his own tension when he notices a 'tell'. That in turn gives him the cue to focus hard enough to look for that tic and pinpoint exactly what the person was lying about, knowledge that he primarily uses in court to press a witness into telling the truth.

There's plenty of limitations to how this power works. He can only detect lies when he can see the person in question, and he has to have use of both eyes for it to work. Additionally, he'd be severely hampered in using his Perception if his bracelet was taken away. Without it, he wouldn't know just when to focus to spot a tell, and learning to do it without the help of his bracelet would take a lot of time and effort. This ability is not foolproof; it's very possible for Apollo to miss spotting a tell, and if the person speaking fully believes that what they're saying is the truth, Apollo would have no way of knowing that it might be untrue after all.

As for his skills, Apollo is a licensed attorney in California and his specialty includes knowledge of legalese and jargon, knowing how to navigate the American legal system, and debate via arguing cases in court. Due to the justice system in his world favoring the prosecution, Apollo also has experience with investigating crime scenes himself to build his own cases.

Inventory: Defense attorney's badge, his lie-detection bracelet, an old red flip-phone.

Game Plans: Since Apollo is from a setting that is more or less grounded in the real world, he makes for a great 'fish out of water' character. That, and the fact that he has no good skills for surviving in this setting means that he's going to be hit with a dilemma: to reject his monster transformation and completely rely on others for protection, or to use his new abilities and be forced to accept the creature he's becoming? Apollo will also need to figure out a useful role to take in the caravan, whether he's taught a new skill by another character or, again, will have to rely on his transformation to make himself useful.

Monster Choice: Drakonis (Dragon), Elemental (Fire Gensai), Infernal (Demon)

Aside from being a fiery character that wears red, Apollo's foster father Dhurke was the leader of a rebellion named the Defiant Dragons. While Apollo was excluded from the rebellion due to not being a blood relative, I think it would be very appropriate for him as an adoptee to transform into a European style dragon, as opposed to the Chinese style dragon depicted in the rebellion's tattoos.

Vehicle Choice: A red, junky compact car, a generic brand of car from his own world. Its quality is Fast.
